Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accept King Charles III’s offer to spend Christmas with the royal family?

According to reports, King Charles III has extended an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to spend Christmas with the royal family. What is known about their plans is as follows.
The royal family is anticipated to gather for a party like every year as Christmas approaches. It is unclear whether King Charles III would maintain the family’s Christmas custom of gathering everyone at their Sandringham rural estate in the wake of Queen Elizabeth’s passing.

Katie Nicholl, a royal specialist, has provided Entertainment Tonight with some important information on how the family will be ringing in the holiday season. Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are anticipated to attend the celebration with King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. Nicholl described the normal royal family Christmas as follows: “They do typically gather together and that has always been at Sandringham. My understanding is that King Charles III is going to follow his mother’s custom and hold a family Christmas in Sandringham this year.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are invited
Since moving to the US in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t celebrated Christmas in the UK. Nicholl, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, said that King Charles also issued an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Although Harry and Meghan could decline the invitation and stay at their house in California for the Christmas. The royal specialist stated the Duke and Duchess’ plans are as follows: “For Christmas, Harry and Meghan have been invited. But from what we hear, they weren’t travelling to the UK. The holiday season will be spent in California by them.”

The final Christmas spent with the royal family by Harry and Meghan
The Duke and Duchess last attended a Christmas celebration with the royal family in 2018. The pair attended a church service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham alongside Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, William, and Kate. In contrast, Prince Harry and Meghan missed the service in 2019 after announcing that they would be enjoying “extended family time” from their royal obligations throughout the holiday season and into the new year. The couple celebrated Christmas with Doria Ragland and their son Archie.

Harry and Meghan’s trip to the UK
In September, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle travelled to the UK to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. The couple had previously attended the monarch’s Platinum Jubilee festivities, which took place in June of this year. The whole royal family gathered for Queen Elizabeth’s burial. William and Kate, together with Harry and Meghan, made their first public appearance together since 2018 when they greeted the mourners in front of Windsor Castle. The royal children were praised for putting their disagreement aside and cooperating to pay tribute to their late grandma.

Future visit by William and Kate to the US
The Prince and Princess of Wales are anticipated to make their first trip to the US in ten years, for the Earthshot Prize event in Boston. While Harry and Meghan may be planning to skip the Christmas celebration with the royal family, it’s possible that the Duke and Duchess will reunite with William and Kate. There have been rumours that Kate Middleton has been eager to use the trip to the US to attempt to reunite the brothers. During the next visit, the Princess of Wales intends to offer a hand of friendship to Markle.

This will be King Charles’ first holiday as the new ruler, and the royal family will celebrate Christmas at this time. Recently, the King also celebrated his 74th birthday. On this unique occasion, a new picture of King Charles III was unveiled. The King was shown in his new image sitting against an old oak tree in Windsor. There were various elaborate celebrations planned for King Charles’ birthday, including gun salutes around London with the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery firing 41 rounds from Green Park. The Honourable Artillery Company also saluted from the Tower of London with 62 guns.
